Spicy, crunchy and juicy — these Maitake “Buffalo Wings” are a fantastic vegetarian alternative to the classic chicken wings. Perfect as a snack or for a cozy dinner or dinner.
Procedure:
1. Prepare the breading: In one bowl, mix wheat flour with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Pour plant milk into a second bowl and breadcrumbs into a third.
2. Bread the mushrooms: Dip each Maitake bite into the flour mixture, then into the plant milk, and finally coat with breadcrumbs until well covered.
3. Fry the mushrooms: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the breaded Maitake pieces for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
4. Make buffalo sauce: Melt the butter and mix it with hot sauce. Toss the crispy mushrooms in the sauce until evenly coated.
5. Serving: Serve the Maitake “Buffalo Wings” with a dip of sour cream and chives, and optionally, some vegetable sticks on the side.
• 200 g Maitake mushrooms, cut into large chunks
• 1 dl wheat flour
• 1 dl plant milk (eg oat milk)

• 3 tablespoons hot sauce (eg Frank's RedHot)
• 2 tablespoons melted butter or vegan option

• 1 cup sour cream or vegan alternative
• 1 tablespoon finely chopped chives
